# xarray.CFTimeIndex.is_

#### CFTimeIndex.is_(other)[[source]](https://github.com/pydata/xarray/blob/main/xarray/../.pixi/envs/doc/lib/python3.15/site-packages/pandas/core/indexes/base.py#L802-L840)

More flexible, faster check like `is` but that works through views.

Note: this is *not* the same as `Index.identical()`, which checks
that metadata is also the same.

* **Parameters:**
  **other** ([`Index`](https://pandas.pydata.org/pandas-docs/stable/reference/api/pandas.Index.html#pandas.Index)) – Other Index to compare against.
* **Returns:**
  [`bool`](https://docs.python.org/3/builtins/functions.html#bool) – True if both have same underlying data, False otherwise.

#### SEE ALSO
`Index.identical`
: Works like `Index.is_` but also checks metadata.
